Episode Notes

Emily starts off by recanting a case study from her senior thesis, featuring Dr. Thomas Gill, a medical examiner with a shady past. Gill repeatedly proved himself incompetent and was found to have given inaccurate rulings on multiple autopsies. Due to flaws in the medicolegal death investigation system, Gill was allowed to continue to practice despite his known substance abuse issues and previous failures. Afterwards, Grace tries to piece together the mysterious death of Richard Lancelyn Green, a scholar of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. In 2004, Green was the foremost expert on Sherlock Holmes and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He spent the majority of his life tyring to locate a set of private letters and muscripts which the late author had supposedly left behind. These papers would later become his downfall. He was found garroted with a shoelace in his London apartment in March of 2004. Police ruled the death as a suicide, but some still suspect foul play.
